What to think about...

When transitioning careers or moving roles, it is important to understand; your previous successes within the roles that you have had, where your skills and competencies lie and what roles you have enjoyed the most within your past experiences.

Here are some questions to consider when thinking about your next role, many of which will help when you start updating your CV:

  • What are you most proud of in your career to date?

  • What will your current organisation remember you for?

  • How would you describe what you are leaving behind?

  • What are your 3 greatest achievements?

  • What are your key skills and competencies?

  • What has been the best role you have had and why?

  • Have you given any thought to what you might want to do next?

  • Have you thought about where you would like to work next:

    • Location?

    • Salary requirement?

    • Level of responsibility?

    • Culture?

    • Type of organisation?

  • What culture and support do you need in order to be successful?

  • What exciting opportunities are out there for you to explore?

  • When was the last time you applied for a role and what was the outcome?
