30 second elevator pitch...

You will have heard the phrase “you only have one chance to make a first impression”.

This is very true, but a lot of hard work and practice needs to go into making a favourable first impression, in a way which is succinct and focused.

In preparation for your first meeting with recruiters, personal networks or contacts or first stage interview think about introducing yourself using the following headings:

  • Your name

  • Your key strengths

  • Your most recent position or role and why you are on the job market

  • A recent achievement of which you are proud

  • Your key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • What you want to do next

As you embark on your career transition, how prepared are you at the moment to answer the following:

  • To describe your key strengths and areas of expertise

  • To articulate your effectiveness through your achievements

  • To positively and confidently outline your current situation

  • To clearly state what you want from the future
