90 days career review...

Onboarding / Induction - Your first 90 days in the organisation is possibly the most critical period and it’s often underestimated.

It’s the time to watch, listen and explore and it is time to reflect on your new role and also previous roles:

  • What has gone well and what have been my achievements?

  • How have these benefited my employer?

  • Where I have performed well, where do I attribute this success to?

  • Where have been your challenges and where have you not performed so well and what are your learning points?

  • What have been your learnings and reflections of where you are now?

  • How effective are your relationships with key decisions makers?

  • What do I need to do if they are not as effective as they could be?

  • How do you want to be in the future?

  • Being aware of not repeating previous mistakes?

  • Being honest with yourself.

  • Reflecting on feedback you may well have received and how you may want to use it.

“Feedback is a gift“ although we don’t always see it in that way or receive it well. It’s within our power to decide how we use it and whether we see the value in someone’s preparedness to share what they see and hear.

  • The most critical elements of onboarding is building powerful relationships within the new organisation, how you do this should be built into your first 90 days.  Reflect on your leadership style if this works well on all occasions or if it needs fine tuning from time to time.

  • Who has been your “uncomfortable companion” and “trusted confident” in the past? Can they help reflect on your previous role, are there any learnings to take on board from here and to reflect on?
